VISUAL ART

Hi everyone, this is my Art blog. Those ideas I mentioned below are what I will have in my portfolio.
The main point I think it is interesting for myself is Vietnamese places.
I want to show someone who doesn't know about them by using this idea to create my artwork.
I just want from my ideal posted in my portfolio people can understand Vietnam
And I'm glad to share with everyone about more information about the country through drawing.

Art History :

This is a picture which painted in 1872 by Claude Monet and it’s called “Impression, Sunrise”. The painting is 48 cm x 63 cm. He has painted this picture on canvas by using oil paint but he also used pastels and take his sketchbook. During many years, it has been shown and admired as the perfect symbol of the Impressionist Movement. Monet had used the basic of the painting techniques to his painting like broken colors to show the feeling of itself. He used a few colours in his painting, limited using black colors and by 1886, he didn’t use black colors anymore. The painting became the inspiration of Claude Monet and which he created when he came to the port of Le Havre in the Northwest of France in 1872 in the sunset. It concentrated on the calm feeling of a mist with a light blue color. Near the center of the painting, we can see a small boat with two people are difficult to see, moves through the air slowly. The sunrise with oranges and yellow is described over the foggy harbor with ships and others of boats at the port. Also, we can see the shadows of the boats and the ray of the sun in the water surface by some sparkling blue dark in the sea. The most important part of “Impression”: Monet doesn't use the traditional rules of composition in order to highlight the sunrise. The sea has been included more than the sky and the nature of the water that means the sea shows the features of the sky above it. Look at the sun, the light of it is soft and is shown as an optical light across the water surface. The smoke of the factories, ships with the rays of the sun creates a kind of beauty that is both surprising and pretty. Claude Monet said how to describe the feeling of a scene that when we painted, we had to try to forget the objects in front of us and to paint how we saw it, especially what you see in the objects such as color and shapes which give your own impression of the scene. Monet used loose brushstrokes to make the foggy appear because he didn't want everyone who enjoys his painting just focus on the place. In the "Impression, Sunrise", his brushstrokes can be seen almost. The textures he used was similar to the way that I want to do to my work. Actually there are some things that I need to learn and improve them in my work. For example, the background Monet used they were 2 colors, I guess, are dark blue, orange. He mixed them up together to make the picture smooth and realistic. So I try to learn how to add 2 colors in the background together. It isn't as hard as you think but you have to make sure these colors have connection or something like the bright mark in your painting.

This art history helps me to know more about how to paint something, especially to paint places in real life.
Also, it helps me can identify details of the things around me and can be creative for my art works.

My new artist model :

Claude Lorrain is dreamy person. When he draws somethings, he puts himself into the place. Therefore, his paintings are reality and visuality.

Claude Lorrain was also a French painter. He travelled to Italy to study and was a leading landscape painter in that country during his lifetime. His inspiration drawing is from the shape and features of the countryside around Rome but his paintings were imaginary compositions. Claude Lorrain painted lightly and lively for his pictures by making some details hidden away in his paintings. I think that his paintings are based on what he loved the actual study of nature. He had the same in using colours as Claude Monet and the main colours are actually light and bright.

Forest + Buildings in Vietnam:

So, I have to say this is my first time using my pencil to create them.
I actually just used pencil for sketching and drawing some lines and nothing else.
I remember that my teacher told me how to use for painting my work.
She said that I had to draw what I see, not drawing what I think.
At first, I couldn't understand the meaning of that as I thought that I was right and so that was why I got failed !!
Then, I was trying to practice with the pencil ( of course I draw what I see ) many times. Finally, it was working.

So that, I can have the picture (above) to show you my result.

This picture is Thien Mu Pagoda in Vietnam. It is a historic temple in the city of Hue city.
It's located at the end of Kim Long Road, in Huong Long Ward, on the northern bank of the Perfume River.
Vietnam is popular of history about old building and Thien Mu Pagoda is one of the examples.
It was truly created in 45 minutes with a pencil.

The next picture is about the scene of countryside in Vietnam. You can see it when you come to small cities which are quite deserted and near river. There are some houses around there which peasants like living in as the places are quite and peaceful.

Those paintings I drew are about places in Vietnam. They are made an impression on me at first sight so I tried to sketch the shapes of pictures and some of them I was painting with some colors that I think they closed to the things in reality. I want to make sure that the pictures are really like in a way what the viewers can clearly recognize.

I used Anne of Green Gables Colors ( https://www.color-hex.com/color-palette/82251 ). For me, I really like those colors because they are light and easy to mix them up together.

In Vietnam, I am proud of  some places that UNESCO that recognizes such as Ha Long Bay (1994), the third picture in the first vertical line depicts Ha Long Bay, or Complex of Hue Monuments (1993)

This is my drawing of Ha Long Bay with a pencil. It is a different side of this location from the drawing above. The pencil makes the picture more nature and reflects the shadow of the things. A sea in a real life is smooth, flat and have some dark views of the things onto them. Therefore, you can see that I spray ''foggy'' things into the surface area of the sea.

I use 2 colours : orange and green to make a background. When I finished painting colours, I use a pen to create some textures into the picture. Orange colour at the top is a sky evening, the green colour depicts mountains behind a Hoan Kiem building. This building is one of small temples in Vietnam. In history, we have a story about the Hoan Kiem which is when was it built. The story is about there was a "Gold" turtle gave a power sword to a king to attack enemies. Then, after killing all of the enemies, in order to commemorate that Gold turtle, the king ordered to make a building and took 'Hoan Kiem' (which means the power sword') as a name of the place.

Lithography :

My class was going to do some worksheets by using some plates which is used in Lithography process.
Actually, I tried to draw some figures from my theme - Vietnamese places.

Last Friday in term 3, I chose flower and tried to make it better by using some methods in Lithography.
When I finished it, I asked my teacher to help me for printing and to give me some feedback about my work.
I have tried 3 times to get it better that I want for my worksheet.

This flower we known as lotus flower (Nymphaea nelumbo). In Vietnamese, the flower is called 'Hoa Sen'. Hoa Sen is a symbolic flower in Vietnam because it is symbolized as the beauty of the country. You can see the lotus flower when you travel by Vietnam Airline plane of Vietnam.

This result relate to the style of the artist model - Claude Lorrain.
His paintings are focused on the details and those are hidden in the painting.
They are really amazing and I am trying to catch up his style for my work to make them impressive.

I seem to almost finish the board 1 of my portfolio. Although some of them changed to others, I make sure that every works have connection together. These paintings are about landscapes which are taken basic colours consist of green, blue, brown, gray from pencil drawing and sketching, black from pen sketching and textures. They comprise of buildings, mountains and trees which are included in every landscape painting.

This is Ha Long Bay which is located about 130 km east of Hanoi - in northern Viet Nam. It is one of position that is recognised by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1994 and taken photo with different side. It is known for its aqua-green water; cluster of limestone rocky outcrops rising and lush forest. The island is truly one of the prettiest places in Vietnam and the most visited one as well.

This is my last board of portfolio. Some of paintings are not strong as the other ones even though the colours of those are around the basic colours (green, blue, yellow, red...). I can use the lotus flower from the lithography to put into the painting of a sunrise (the first picture in the line 2) as it's going to be better if it has something different from others. Another way is using the black ink or black pen to drawing the boats in the background space ( the second painting in the line 2 ). I choose the light color tones to the background to make the dark color pop out more. My artist model - Claude Lorrain, drawing actual landscapes and making people feel that they are in those places. I just imitate his style to my paintings and it's about 50% or 60% of succeed.

Art models - 9/9/2019

The artist models I choose are Claude Monet and Claude Lorrain.

Claude Monet      'Waterlilies and Japanese Bridge', 1899 (oil on canvas)

Claude Monet was a famous French artist and he was the primary inspiration for the new art movement of impressionism. Some paintings he was using a luminous range of colours over a light background. I like how he used mixed colours and the textures of his paintings to make them more real and natural.

He had the same in using colours as Claude Monet and the main colours are actually light and bright.

home economics in daily life

What are nutrients ?
- Nutrients are substance in food that contribute to a person's Well-Being.
- By eating a variety of foods and liquids the body takes the nutrients it needs to maintain good health.
- Good Nutrients allow our body to function.

Anyway, there are 3 questions that I ask myself to make sure that I get some main ideas after I find out in the internet to know more about the importance of water.

1/ What are the three ways that we loss water from the human body ?
2/ How long can a person live under normal conditions without drinking water ?
3/ When your thirsty what is that a sign of ?

Answers :

Question 1 : For this question, the three ways that we lose water from our body are :
- The climate and the work you do can affect the water lost in human body.
- Water can be lost when we breathe.
- Water helps our digestion to keep the food moving through intestines.

Question 2 : There is at least 60% of the human is made of water and it help every cells in the body to keep functioning. The maximum time that people can go without water seems to be a week. That is based on observations of people at the end at their lives when the food and water intake has been stopped. However, it's a generous thing and people just has three or four days without water in difficult conditions as broiling heat.

Question 3 : Thirst occurs whenever the body is dehydrated for any reason.

The South Island Robin

The South Island Robin Bird

26/06/2019

Hi guys! Thanks for visiting my blog

Today, I'll introduce you to a bird from New Zealand.

Yesterday, I was surfing the internet and I found something is new that I've ever known before. I was impressed by the bird in New Zealand - named Robin. Robins are small birds live in South Island which have dark grey-black colored over the upper body for males and light dark-grey colored for females.

There are a lot of websites talk about Robin and they give details in some different ways I choose three of them which show me the particular information that I think they are helpful for me to know more about that bird. All of them provide some facts around the bird which is expressed in the identification (description), distribution, habitat, threats, feeding (food), vocalisation. Besides, some of them also have too much information or less for people who want to find. Those sites may not have full evidence to express the facts are true. Accordingly, I do some comparisons about three sites to make sure that everyone knows what is the limitation of them and can have their choices in finding beneficial media.

The first site is Rare Species (https://rarespecies.nzfoa.org.nz/species/south-island-robin/)

When I read information off this site, I can get more details about the bird. However, this data gives me information on both of types of birds in North Island and South Island. Although the title on the page mentions only the bird in South Island, it talks about the birds in North Island more than another one. Then, if I want to use this information for my report, it will be okay but before that, I have to find more particulars of the South bird from other sites.

The second site is Wikipedia - one of the website that almost everyone finds as documentation. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Island_robin)

Everyone uses it as a document for learning and so do I. It looks like equipment to solve the problem of information and learn some keywords around the particular topic. The limitation of Wikipedia is sometimes they give me undetermined details. However, the information about the South Island Bird in Wikipedia is full.

The third site is New Zealand Birds Online ( http://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/south-island-robin )

Actually, this site has enough information that I need. You can think the information on this site is similar to details that Wikipedia has. Of course, you can choose one of them to know about anything you want. But I suggest that you use New Zealand Birds Online when you talk about the South Island Bird or other birds. Because this one talks deeper than the Wikipedia and it will make sure the evidence is true.

The Willowbank Trip

Willowbank trip

On June 4, my class in ESOL went to the Willowbank.

It was a raining day. After we finished period 1 at school, we started going to the place by bus. When we came there, we decided to divide into 3 groups to get easy to find information for our booklets. I remembered that my group was the last one to start visiting.

The main reason for this trip to Willowbank was preparing for practice assessment about the Kea bird but I thought it looked like that I enjoyed a lot of fun in there. My group walked past some places which are called animal's houses such as Llama, the horse, wallabies,..etc. There were many mammals which I hadn't known before and that visit was so amazing for me to reach something new even I had heard some people had been telling me about that.

Next, we came to the destination which the Kea lived. It made me feel like the jungle but exactly like the forest which is similar to the place Kea comes from. We met the woman guide, she gave us some information about the Kea bird.

I saw her feeding some birds with sweet food, especially honey. She said Kea birds would come with you if they felt hungry. Also, whether you didn't give them food, they would bite you anytime.

After that, we went to the nocturnal Kiwi house. It was dark inside and we had to be quiet when we were going there in order to not make Kiwi woke up. Then, at 12:45 we came to the coffee shop to have the seat to wait for the bus coming.

The trip was really nice for me in learning and having relaxation.

THE KEA

The Kea

Keas are members of large parrot which is found in the South Island of New Zealand and around high mountains.

They have a green feather with black and light orange with yellow and black feathers under its wings and rump. Their feather is blue and green dark colours. They look like all parrots they have 4 toes on each foot. Two of them point forward and the others point backwards. Those are helping Keas for catching objects and moving around in the tree and on the ground.

The Kea's beak is long and curved. The male's beak is approximately 4.5 - 5 cm long and the female's beak is smaller than the male (4 - 4.5cm). The Kea's beak is a very different shape to the kaka's beak which is much thicker and shorter.

Kea males weights are 750g-1kg and female is slightly at 700g-850g. That is about the weight of a very small chicken. The shape and weight of Kea ensure they don't lose heat too quickly when up in the freezing mountains.

The breeding season occurs in between July and January. They are two to five eggs are deposited into the nest. They hatch 21 days later. Female Keas spend an hour a day and half of the night feeding a short distance for the nest. Males help with the feeding when the chicks are about 1 month old.

Keas are endangered because they are still deliberately shot although they are protected by law. Because of that, during this time, people are trying to avoid acting that damage the Kea.

Save Me

The story I read today is the story named " Save Me ". The author is LICO. It is a dramatic story and quite horror but also can make everyone likes it.

It's about seven boys are called Jin, Yoongi, Nam Joon, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and Jung Kook. They're best friends. They had a good time together when they studied in high school but after that, they have gone their separated ways and suffered greatly as a result. When we thought that all is almost lost for these boys, one of them - Jin had a special chance to come back in time to save another members by helping them fix their mistakes that they had in their bad paths.

Silent Reading 10 minutes - ENE

I read 11 pages today from Shots in the Dark, written by Hazel Town. It's actually about two people named Danny and Georgia, they have different stories for themselves. All of them both lose a father in the same dramatic incident and each bereavement leads to great disruption in their families. When the pair run into each other in the hospital they each realize that here is the one person who can understand and help with the anger and frustration. They then turn their joint attention to the drug dealer responsible for all the chaos but they realize that the drug dealer's son in their school. The story also their thoughts and feeling about daily life - I guess so

The story looks like diary so it is told according to the 1st person.

Nau mai, haere mai ki tēnei taonga
